Anthony Pons completed a clean sweep of both free practice sessions for the 2017 Blancpain GT Sports Club opener at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli after the AKKA ASP driver clocked a 1:35.132 to go fastest in FP2 aboard the #72 Mercedes AMG GT3.
The Frenchman headed team-mate Daniele Perfetti by over half a second, thus confirming AKKA’s strong early form at the Italian venue. Teams and drivers once again enjoyed excellent weather and track conditions as they furthered their preparations ahead of this afternoon’s qualifying session, despite a late red flag period.
Third fastest was Christoph Ulrich in the #51 AF Corse-entered Ferrari 458 Italia GT3. Martin Lanting once again claimed the Iron Cup bragging rights by going fourth fastest overall. The two-time champion edged HP Racing’s Coach McKansy in the #17 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 and Autovitesse Garage R.Affolter’s Cedric Leimer.
McKansy’s team-mate Daniel Vogt slotted into seventh position ahead of Team Malucelli’s Marco Galassi. Pierre Hirschi hoisted his CMR-entered BMW Z4 GT3 to P9, while last year’s runner-up Nico Vandierendonck once again wrapped up the top 10.
